Static exercise in untreated systemic hypertension.

چکیده
The circulatory responses to sustained handgrip at 30 per cent of a maximum voluntary contraction of the forearm muscles (MVC) were examined in untreated hypertensive patients. Arterial pressure increased in all patients, often attaining very high levels. Two main patterns of circulatory response were observed. In group i (8 patients) there was an increase in cardiac index and heart rate, with little or no change in systemic vascular resistance. These patients conformed to the pattern of response previously observed in normal subjects. Group 2 (6 patients) responded by an increase of systemic vascular resistance, a smaller rise in heart rate, and little or

Effects of sauna alone and postexercise sauna baths on blood pressure and hemodynamic variables in patients with untreated hypertension.
The effects of sauna alone vs exercise and sauna on ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and central hemodynamic variables were measured in 16 patients with untreated hypertension assigned to a control period, sauna, or exercise and sauna. Exercise and sauna had positive effects on 24-hour systolic and mean blood pressure in patients with untreated hypertension. Exercise and sauna and sauna alo...
متن کاملEffects of isometric exercise on the carotid baroreflex in hypertensive subjects.
Previous studies indicate that arterial baroreceptor modulation of heart rate is drastically reduced during static or dynamic exercise. We have investigated whether this reduction also occurs with regard to blood pressure modulation by the baroreflex. The study was performed in 19 subjects with uncomplicated untreated essential hypertension in whom blood pressure was measured intraarterially, a...
متن کاملCorrelation between radiological chest findings and systemic haemodynamics in human arterial hypertension.
Radiographic chest findings from 57 men, aged 17 to 64, with untreated systemic arterial hypertension of varying severity were related to systemic haemodynamics, both at rest and during standardized exercise in the sitting position. The haemodynamic findings were compared with corresponding data from 59 normotensive male volunteers. In classifying the radiographic findings into four different g...
متن کاملThe CREST syndrome--successful reduction of pulmonary hypertension by captopril.
A patient with severe pulmonary hypertension due to pulmonary arteriolar obliteration complicating a long standing CREST variant of systemic sclerosis showed improvement in cardiac output and exercise tolerance during treatment with captopril, which was discontinued because of persistent systemic hypotension. It is suggested that captopril would have a useful and possible prophylactic effect ea...
متن کاملEffects of Physical Activity and Aerobic Exercise Capacity on Aortic Stiffness in Patients With Untreated Hypertension
Background and Objectives: High aerobic exercise capacity and sport-related physical activity are reported to be inversely associated with arterial stiffness in healthy young adults. However, it is unknown whether increased physical activity and/or high aerobic exercise capacity attenuate arterial stiffness in patients with untreated hypertension. Subjects and Methods: We studied subjects with ...
